Introduction

Kazzara is the intro boss to Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible. A mainly single target fight, you’ll have to take down this wounded and suffering dragon. Partly for its own good, and partly so that your path to Aberrus is no longer blocked.

Positioning

It will be best to hold Kazarra near one side of the room, and facing away from the raid.

Kazarra does not have any frontal or side cleaves, but will periodically target players with AoE attacks and a laser beam.. Melee will want to loosely spread around the boss, while range hangout away from the boss but within range of healers.

Positioning for Kazzara, the Hellforged.

Important Abilities

Hellsteel Carnage– A Raid Wide DoT that is applied at 70%, 50%, and 30%. As it stacks, the damage ticks happen faster and faster. I recommend using Hero/Lust after the 3rd application at 30%. This will be the hardest phase for healers.

Dread Rifts– The boss will target players with a 5 second DoT. Once the DoT expires players will drop a Shadow Flame puddle. The puddles last until cleared with a Ray of Anguish, and the number of players targeted increases with each cast of Hellsteel Carnage.

Rays of Anguish– As the fight progresses Kazzara will target random players with beams. Kite these beams through Dreadrifts to remove the puddle and interrupt the beam.

HellbeamCast at 100 Energy. A massive laser attack similar to Razageth. The boss will turn to face a random player and deal massive damage in a line for roughly 3 seconds. This attack is Telegraphed by the boss turning to face away from tanks if you are following the above positioning.

Wings of Extinction– A small knockback, will apply a 20 second DoT and could possibly displace healers/tanks.

Terror ClawsTank swap mechanic. Deals massive damage and applies a 200% damage taken debuff for 25 seconds. I recommend swapping every claw.

Role-Specific Mechanics

There are several things that each raider should be aware of and prepared for. Check below for what each role is focusing on during the fight!

Tanks

This is a fairly easy tank fight. Position the boss in 1 position and try to not turn them too much unless moving from puddles necessitates it. Swap on Terror Claws in a way that will not stress you or your healers.

Healers

This is a slowly ramping fight. The damage and moving starts low, and gradually gets harder and harder. Watch your mana and don’t burn out too easy, and keep an eye on players targeted by Dread Rifts and Rays of Anguish.

Damage

Do as much damage as you can, but watch your CD’s. Theres a ton of damage going out in the last 3rd of the fight, help your healers out and dodge/mitigate as much as you can.

Conclusion

Kazzara is hands down one of the best Intro Bosses that any raid has seen in quite awhile. Dodge the shadowflame lasers and blasts, and begin your descent into Aberrus!
